Ocumare de la Costa, located in the northern end of the state of Aragua, on the slopes of the Cordillera de la Costa, surrounded by the peculiar natural elements of the coastal strip of the Henri Pittier National Park. Cocoa cultivation is the main economic activity of the community of Ocumare de la Costa. Ocumare cocoa is a very special modern Criollo, due to its aroma and robustness it is very popular throughout Venezuela.

Artisanal chocolate bar made from Ocumare cocoa grown in Ocumare de la Costa, Venezuela. It is characterized by a mixture of Criollo and Trinitario cocoa, with a strong tendency towards Criollo. This cocoa stands out for its intensity and robustness, its moderate levels of acidity associated with notes of citrus and tropical fruits (cherry, peach), nuts (walnut) and panela or malt. Its properties allow a splendid tasting of pleasant, soft and delicate flavors.

COCOA FERMENTATION: 5 to 7 days in wooden boxes

DRYING: 6 to 7 slowly sun dried

ROASTING: Medium temp.: 120°C – 30 minutes approx.
